Foxy Brown denied early release

Rapper will not be allowed to go to Cali for ear treatment

Foxy Brown will not be released early from prison to get medical treatment in California.

The rapper, whose real name is Inga Marchand, requested early release from Riker’s Island prison in New York in order to travel to a Los Angeles clinic to treat a hearing problem she says is worsening in jail.

Brown’s lawyers said a doctor at the Californian clinic was the only one who could repair the rapper’s electronic hearing implant.

Prosecutors maintain that Brown could receive the same treatment in New York, and also argued that prisoners do not have the right to request specific doctors for treatment.

She is in prison after violating probation stemming from an assault on two nail salon workers in Manhattan in August 2004.

During her sentence she has also served a period in solitary confinement after getting into a dispute with another inmate and a prison official.
