Rapper served eight months at Rikers Island
Foxy Brown will be released from prison on April 18 after serving eight months of her year-long sentence.
The rapper was sentenced to jail after assaulting her neighbour with a BlackBerry device. The assault was in violation of Brown’s probation for assaulting staff at a nail salon in Chelsea, New York City in 2004.
Brown’s time at the prison was eventful – she was put in solitary confinement after altercations with prison guards and other inmates. She also reportedly wore Gucci and Louis Vuitton trainers with her prison jumpsuit.
Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, attempted to be released from jail in order to fly to California to have an ear implant repaired. The request was refused.
Brown’s new album ‘Brooklyn’s Don Diva’ was initially scheduled to be released while she was in prison, but the release date is now May 13, giving Brown the opportunity to promote the album.
She is also in talks to star in her own reality show, says Billboard.
