Rapper says ear problem makes imprisonment 'unfair'
Foxy Brown has asked to be released from jail to treat an ear problem that she believes could jeopardise her hearing and singing career.
The rapper is currently serving a year-long prison sentence in a New York jail for assaulting two nail salon stylists and violating terms of her probation.
Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, handwrote a four-page letter to New York Supreme Court Judge Melissa Jackson, saying that she has already learned a lesson from serving jail time and pleading to be released.
“Yes, I’ve made some bad choices and stupid mistakes. But please understand that sitting in a prison with murderers and criminals is not rehabilitating or what I need to deal with my inner issues,” she said in the letter.
She added: “Up until now, you’ve only heard about Foxy Brown the artist. I’d like to show you Inga Marchand the beautiful person that my mom raised me to be. Jail has shaken me to my core, and my time away has impacted me greatly.”
Brown‘s attorney, Laura Dilimetin, stated in court papers that her client’s ear condition makes continued incarceration unfair, and that the only doctor who has successfully treated her condition is based in California, reports Reuters.
