Outkast duo Big Boi and Andre 3000 to reunite on Frank Ocean remix

OutKast members to feature on same track for first time since 2010

Rappers Big Boi and Andre 3000 will reunite their OutKast partnership for the first time since 2008 on a remix of Frank Ocean track ‘Pink Matter’.

The song, which appears on Ocean’s critically acclaimed album ‘Channel Orange’, already features Andre 3000 on the original. However, as revealed via his official blog, Big Boi has confirmed that he is working on a remix of the track, posting a picture of the lyrics he is writing. Posting on Twitter, Big Boi stated that Ocean had originally wanted both rappers to appear on the original but that Andre 3000 ruled it out. “[He] didn’t want an OutKast Record Coming out on anybody else’s LP,” he tweeted.

Big Boi later revealed that he will also appear on another track with Andre 3000 later in the year, this time a remix to TI track ‘Sorry’.

OutKast last released an official studio album in 2006 however, both Big Boi and Andre 3000 have appeared on records together since, first with 2008 track ‘Royal Flush’, which also featured Raekwon, then ‘Lookin For Ya’ in 2010. The ‘Pink Matter’ remix is due for release next week.

Meanwhile, Frank Ocean’s ‘Channel Orange’ was recently voted the Best Album of 2012 in a poll of polls. HMV’s Poll of Polls used the results from NME’s Best Album of 2012 list alongside data from other publications, including The Guardian, The Times, BBC, Mojo, Music Week, the Evening Standard, Rolling Stone and more, to come up with the ultimate ‘Best Of’ list for the past year.
