Chunk of singer’s ‘Channel Orange’ album to feature in hit US TV show
Frank Ocean is set to soundtrack a brand new episode of US television drama Gossip Girl.
The LA Times reports that the several tracks from the singer’s ‘Channel Orange’ album, which was released earlier this year, will be used in an upcoming episode of the programme titled ‘Monstrous Ball’.
According to reports, the tracks ‘Lost’, ‘Super Rich Kids’, ‘Pyramids’, ‘Sweet Life’ and ‘Thinkin Bout You’ will all be included. It will be the first time an episode of Gossip Girl has solely used one artist’s music to soundtrack the show, and also the first time Ocean’s music has been used in a TV series.
Ocean released ‘Channel Orange’, which was his debut album, in July of this year, with the LP peaking at Number Two in the UK Official Album Chart. The eight-minute clip cuts between scenes in which Ocean stumbles drunk through a strip club and shots of the singer riding a motorcycle in the desert and concludes with an appearance by John Mayer, who plays the guitar solo on the song.
Shortly before the release of ‘Channel Orange’, Ocean came out in a post on his Tumblr. He prefaced his statement saying he hoped that “the babies born these days will inherit less of the bullshit than we did” and went on to reveal that his first love had been another man.
