Tyler, The Creator gives Frank Ocean a birthday cake to mark ‘Blonde’ album release

Odd Future rapper congratulates Ocean on recent release

Tyler, The Creator congratulated Frank Ocean on the release of his new album ‘Blonde’ by giving him a birthday cake.

Ocean’s new record ‘Blonde’ – stylised on its cover art as ‘Blond’ – was streamed via Apple Music at the weekend, coming after the release of Ocean’s visual album ‘Endless’ and his ‘Nikes’ music video just days before.

Ocean has now posted a picture to Tumblr, which sees him in a T-shirt that reads “I am not famous anymore” (a possible reference Shia LaBeouf) along with a cake. The caption says: “Birthday cake for Blonde. Thanks Tyler.” See the photo below.

“I had the time of my life making all of this. Thank you all,” Ocean wrote on Tumblr following the album’s release. “Especially those of you who never let me forget I had to finish. Which is basically every one of ya’ll. Haha. Love you,” he added.

Meanwhile, the way Ocean released ‘Blonde’ has meant Universal Music are to stop releasing any more albums as streaming exclusives.

Ocean was signed to Universal subsidiary Def Jam, but released ‘Blonde’ on his own independent label. This was because Ocean’s visual album ‘Endless’ was released the day before ‘Blonde’ on Def Jam, as an exclusive for Apple Music. With ‘Endless’, Ocean fulfilled his contractual obligations to Def Jam.
