Franz Ferdinand, Wombats, Mystery Jets for Shockwaves NME Awards shows

Plus Black Lips, Simian Mobile Disco, Gaslight Anthem for gigs

Franz Ferdinand, The Wombats, Mystery Jets, Tricky and Black Lips are among the first acts confirmed to play Shockwaves NME Awards shows for 2009.

Gaslight Anthem, Secret Machines, Metronomy and Simian Mobile Disco are also set to headline shows, which take place across various venues in London in January and February.

The gigs take place in the run-up to the Shockwaves NME Awards 2009, set to take place at the UK capital’s Brixton Academy on February 25.

More dates and support acts will be announced soon.

Tickets for the awards shows go on sale from 9am (GMT) tomorrow (November 26) exclusively through NME and NME.COM.
