Franz Ferdinand unveil German-language track ‘Erdbeer Mund’ – listen

New song is B-side of band's next single 'Fresh Strawberries'

Franz Ferdinand have revealed a new track, titled ‘Erdbeer Mund’, which they sing in German – click below to listen.

The song will be the B-side to the band’s next single ‘Fresh Strawberries’, which is released on April 7 and is taken from their recent album ‘Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action’.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Franz Ferdinand are working on a joint album with Sparks, after the veteran synth rockers’ keyboardist Ron Mael told NME that the two bands have been working together since they met in San Francisco in April last year (2013).

“You can really hear a mashing together of both bands,” said Mael. “If there was a train crash between Franz Ferdinand and Sparks, this is what the wreckage would sound like.”

The vocal styles of Franz frontman Alex Kapranos and Sparks singer Russell Mael – Ron’s brother – fuse together well, according to the keyboard player. He said: “Alex and Russell’s voices are very distinctive, so you notice the trade-off between them straight away. Both bands’ styles are coming together pretty seamlessly.”

Franz Ferdinand are set to embark on a UK and Irish tour later this year. They will play:

London Roundhouse (March 14)
Brighton Dome (17)
Bristol O2 Academy (18)
Southampton Guildhall (19)
Birmingham O2 Academy (21)
Manchester Academy (22)
Dublin Olympia (23)
Glasgow Barrowlands (25)
Leeds O2 Academy (26)
Newcastle O2 Academy (27)
