New dates hint at festival appearances to follow

Franz Ferdinand have announced dates for their second Australian tour next January – marking them for possible inclusion on the bill for the 2006 Big Day Out festival.

The band are currently due to play only two shows – one in Sydney and the other in Melbourne – however the tour will coincide with the annual Antipodean festival which begins in Auckland, New Zealand on January 20 and wraps up in Perth on February 5, having also visited Australia’s Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

As previously revealed on NME.COM, the first announcements for the lineup of the 2006 Big Day Out will be released on October 5 with tickets going onsale October 14.

Sydney Enmore Theatre (January 24)

Melbourne Palace (31)

In the UK Franz Ferdinand released their new single ‘Do You Want To’ last Monday (September 19).
