ALL OVER THE SHOPS!

This week's NME cover stars reveal details of a second instore appearance in the next few days...

Franz Ferdinand will kick off their year as the hottest band in Britain with two intimate instore performances in LONDON over the next few days.

This week’s NME cover stars will play at Rough Trade in London’s Covent Garden on Saturday (January 10) at 5pm before performing a set up the road on Monday (January 12) at independent record store Fopp, kicking off at 1pm.

A year and a half ago Franz Ferdinand were playing the only four songs they had written in teenage girl’s bedroom in their hometown of Glasgow. This year has seen the band catapulted to the top of NME’s Hot List 2004, famous for discovering the likes of Coldplay, Jet, and Franz Ferdinand.

As previously reported on NME.COM, Franz Ferdinand returned to their roots when they played an intimate gig on New Year’s Eve in a friend’s Edinburgh flat, after their Hogmanay show for more than 100,000 people was cancelled due to bad weather.

Franz Ferdinand‘s appearance at Fopp on Earlham St, will also mark the release of their second single, ‘Take Me Out’ (January 12) through Domino.

Their self-titled debut album is released on February 9 and they open the NME Awards tour, dates as follows:

Newcastle Northumbria University (January 25)

Glasgow Barrowlands (26)

Birmingham Academy (27)

Sheffield University Foundry (29)

Liverpool University (30)

Manchester Academy (31)

Leeds University (February 2)

Nottingham Rock City (3)
