But they plan to make up for it on New Year's Eve
Franz Ferdinand have spoken about the bizarre circumstances in which they celebrated the release of second album ‘You Could Have It So Much Better’.
Sighting it as one of the strangest parties they’ve ever been to, the band were in America when their record hit the shelves the world over.
“There was a party for us in a bar in Portland, Oregon – it was weird,” Alex Kapranos told NME.COM. “It was what the organisers thought we’d like, a half-naked girl on a bronco and a girl eating fire. Nick (McCarthy) was standing on the table shouting ‘Turn it up, turn it up’… he got quite into it.”
Kapranos added the band are now looking forward to celebrating New Year’s Eve in their home city, Glasgow.
“Christmas is a different thing in Scotland,” said the singer. “It’s only really been celebrated properly for the last 30 years or so, and it still is that New Year is the big thing. Scotland is still pagan!
“Nobody gives a toss about Christmas, New Year is the big celebration. That’s what I’m looking forward to, it’s a fantastic night.”
