Franz Ferdinand discuss new synth material

The band ready third album

Franz Ferdinand have discussed their third album, the follow up to 2005’s ‘You Could Have It So Much Better’.

As reported on NME.COM when the band recently played a low-key show in their native Glasgow, the new material boasted a keyboard-led direction.

Speaking about the new songs, guitarist Paul Thomson said it was “synth-led, we’ve gone crazy buying old synths… We played Nashville recently and all the synths short circuited in the heat, we had to play a greatest hits set instead. But everybody was still smiling”.

He added: “We’ve been recording demos rehearsing, writing. It’s going well, it was good to have breather and not impose deadlines on ourselves…the songs are evolving quite nicely.”

The new album is tipped for a spring 2008 release.

The band have a new song, ’Hallam Foe Dandelion Blow’, on the ’Hallam Foe’ soundtrack, which will be released on August 16, reports BBC 6 Music.
