Franz Ferdinand/ Sparks ‘FFS’ combo play James Corden’s Late Late Show – watch

'Police Encounters' got an airing on the hit American TV show

Franz Ferdinand and Sparks supergroup FFS have served up a lively rendition of ‘Police Encounters’ on James Corden’s Late Late Show.

The group’s American tour is due to finish up in Oakland tomorrow (October 15), and follows a handful of UK dates over the course of the summer, as well as the release of the collaboration’s self-titled debut album.

“When we started this we didn’t know whether it was going to be a song, or what the hell it was going to be,” Alex Kapranos told NME back in May. “That’s still how we feel. That’s a great way to feel about a band. Not knowing what the future is and not having it mapped out for you. Let’s see what happens.”

The album followed in June, when NME’s review gave the album some colourful context:

“Throwing references to Sartre, Warhol and US architect Frank Lloyd Wright into songs about shagging Harlem police officers’ wives (the sizzling ‘Police Encounters’), punching above your romantic weight (‘Johnny Delusional’) and how everyone should really just piss off (jubilant sing-along ‘Piss Off’).”
