The Foos, as you've never heard them before

Foo Fighters have given their approval and shared a bizarre disco mash-up of their massive track ‘The Pretender’. Check it out below.

Dubbed ‘The Freaktender’, the single from the band’s sixth album ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace’ starts out with a riff from Led Zeppelin‘s ‘Stairway To Heaven’ before bursting into Rick James vocals from ‘Super Freak’ over ‘The Pretender’ with The Beach Boys‘ ‘Help Me Rhonda’ thrown in for good measure – turning the rock anthem into a strange disco banger.

The have only really been on social media to announce their ever-growing European tour of late, but broke the norm by sharing the mash-up with the simple caption ‘FUCK YES’. The band are yet to give their approval to Rick Astley’s approval of ‘Everlong‘.

Meanwhile, Foo Fighters are set for a huge year ahead in 2017. Drummer Taylor Hawkins told NME that they hope to ‘hunker down’ and start work on their new album soon, as well as responding to the rumours that they’ll be returning to headline Glastonbury Festival 2017.
