He's not happy that she's 'glamorising war' in video for 'Part Of Me'…
Speaking on Twitter, the frontman said that the ‘Teenage Dream’ singer’s new video for ‘Part Of Me’ had only been released to “sell records to idiots” and “glamorised war”.
In the video, which you can watch by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking, a camo-clad Perry witnesses her boyfriend cheating on her with another girl. Incensed by what she has just seen, she confronts him. We then see a distressed Perry cutting her hair off in a toilet before running off to join the army. Later footage also shows her fighting in a war zone.
Seeing Katy Perry as a soldier in ‘Part Of Me’ really makes me think that we need to start a war so she can go die.
He went on to apologise for the message but still stuck by its sentiments, adding: “Yes I’m aware my last tweet was kinda dumb so is glamorising war to sell records to idiots. Katy Perry still sucks.”
Abraham isn’t the only person to take issue with the video for ‘Part Of Me’ – last month (March 28), renowned feminist critic Naomi Wolf described the promo as “shameful” and “propaganda for the marines”, and also encouraged people to boycott her music.
Fucked Up released their last album, which was a rock opera titled ‘David Comes To Life’, in June last year. Perry, meanwhile, recently announced she is planning to release a 3D concert movie this summer. The film, which will be titled Katy Perry: Part Of Me, has been made in conjunction with Paramount and is named after her most recent single.
