James Johnston makes his debut, alongside Mediaeval Baebes, in a "lousy" version of an Edgar Allen Poe tale...

GALLON DRUNK frontman JAMES JOHNSTON is to make his acting debut in the new KEN RUSSELL film, ‘THE FALL OF THE LOUSE OF USHER’.

The film is also set to feature the Mediaeval Baebes, and is a “horror-comedy musical” version of the Edgar Allen Poe horror story ‘The Fall Of The House Of Usher’.

Johnston stars as Roddy Usher in the film, which was shot with a camcorder. It is intended that the film will be made available via the Internet in a series of 10-minute episodes. The first episode, however, will be broadcast as part of a larger ‘South Bank Show’ documentary on Russell on February 11.

Russell is a world-renowned director, perhaps best known in musical circles for directing the movie version of The Who’s rock opera ‘Tommy’.

In other news, Gallon Drunk play a one-off London show at the Highbury Garage on February 16. The band are currently recording their new album, due for release this spring.
