The hacker asked “really attractive girls” if they could post photos of themselves, so that they could retweet them, and also posted the lyrics from Will Smith’s 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
Digital Spy reports that the fake Shirley Manson posted ‘hundreds’ of tweets that included: “Getting a lot of questions about what I’m drinking. Is it that obvious I’m drunk??? Vanilla Malt and a few coolers :)” and: “There will be whipped cream and Shirley for all.”
The real Manson later posted: “Hey guys its Shirley… I don’t know what to think so I’m just going to take it 1 step at a time. Contacting twitter now. Anyone fill me in?”
This isn’t the first time the band’s frontwoman has run into trouble on the social networking site. Earlier this year she was subject to hundreds of abusive messages, including death threats from an anonymous Twitter user.
The singer’s manager was forced to contact Los Angeles police officials after a Twitter user accused her of cheating on her husband and being a witch.
One message read: “IM GONNA KILL U BITCH!!!!!!!” Manson’s manager Paul Kremen reported the alleged cyberstalking to the LAPD, who issued a search warrant requesting information from Twitter executives about the account.
Garbage released their fifth studio album ‘Not Your Kind Of People’ in May. The album, which is their first since 2005’s ‘Bleed Like Me’, was released on the band’s own record label Stunvolume and was recorded in Atwater Village in Los Angeles.
