Eyewitness claims George Michael lay bleeding on the M1 following car crash

Katherine Fox also says she helped nurse the singer before the emergency services arrived

Pop legend George Michael lay bleeding in the road on the M1 following his car crash, an eyewitness claims.

Katherine Fox said she helped nurse the singer before the arrival of the emergency services after the Range Rover in which he was a passenger was involved in the crash near junction 6A of the M1 in Hertfordshire last Thursday (May 16). She told BBC News: “I was driving in the third lane of the motorway and had to slam my brakes on and go between the third and fourth lane. At that point I looked back and saw a body lying in the road so I stopped my car because no-one except the car behind me had stopped.”

She also said the singer was already being comforted by another man, who she believed had been in the car with him and although there was “blood everywhere”, Michael was conscious. “He had a deep cut above his left eyebrow which was really bleeding down his face into his teeth,” she added. “I spoke to him like he was a normal guy but he was totally shocked, I don’t think he was in any state to talk.” Fox also claims Michael fell out of the car and was told he tried to open the car door and shut it again because it wasn’t shut properly.

In 2010, Michael was jailed for eight weeks over driving and drug offences after he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving under the influence of cannabis in August of that year. He was also given a five-year driving ban, and received a fine of £1,250. It was reported last month that he had spent two months in an Australian rehab clinic, after the ‘Faith’ singer checked into the £27,000-a-week centre’s luxurious Sanctuary for a two-month stay in February to be treated for emotional anxiety and other issues.
