'I awoke to some very upsetting, sad, and serious news'
The guitarist was set to play Sydney’s Metro Theatre with his band Frank Iero And The Patience – before being involved in a ‘serious traffic accident’.
Now, Way has taken to Facebook to thank fans for their support: “I awoke to some very upsetting, sad, and serious news. Heartbroken. I know just as much as all of you but I hope the continued outpouring of love, well wishes, and support help. Make sure to hug the ones you care about. Sending all my love to Frank and the boys. – G”
“Hi friends,” tweeted Iero, “thanks all for the well wishes. We’re pretty banged up but miraculously alive and in stable condition. I’m still in a state of shock.”
Way recently encouraged fans to take part in the upcoming Presidential election – claiming ‘voting has never been so essential’.
Fans recently reacted with disappointment after an announcement from My Chemical Romance turned out to be the reissue of ‘The Black Parade’ to celebrate the album’s 10th anniversary – which falls later this month.
Meanwhile, Gerard Way is said to be working on his second solo album, the follow-up to ‘Hesitant Alien‘.
