Legal row over the hit 1996 Goldbug cover of Led Zep's 'Whole Lotta Love'...

‘A WHOLE LOTTA LOVE’, the LED ZEPELLIN cover which was a top three hit in 1996 for Goldbug, is today at the centre of a wrangle at the London High Court over alleged unpaid royalties.

Goldbug, real name Richard Walmsley, is suing his former label, Acid Jazz, for royalties he claims never to have received for his cover of the track.

His counsel, Pushpinder Saini, told Terence Etherhon QC, the deputy judge hearing the case, that:

“The track was a very successful and popular dance track which reached number three in the charts in January 1996”, and that Walmsley was entitled to royalties. Saini also said that Acid Jazz was not entitled to counter claim for damages. At present, b>Acid Jazz are suing Walmsley #152,066 as they allege that he is in breach of an agreement which they say assigned copyright of the track to them.

The hearing continues.
