THE MANIC STREET PREACHERS, MASSIVE ATTACK and BELLE & SEBASTIAN were all shortlisted for the Brit Awards 99 at a press conference at the Cafe De Paris in London.
Thwew nominations were announced at a far from star studded reception – BILLIE and DESTINY’S CHILD were there, ANOTHER LEVEL (conspicuously without GHOSTFACE KILLAH) and LYNDEN DAVID HALL played live – with ROBBIE WILLIAMS turning up in four categories with six nominations, Belle & Sebastian were lined-up against HINDA HICKS, STEPS and BILLIE in the Best UK Newcomer category, voted for by listerners of Radio 1.
