Plus Murdoc explains how he ended up on 'Plastic Beach'

Gorillaz have revealed the first image from their comeback video.

The film for new single ‘Stylo’ was created by Jamie Hewlett and is set to appear for the first time ever on YouTube at 5am (GMT) on March 2.

Ahead of the premiere, the band have given NME.COM an exclusive peek at the video, pictured.

The video follows the cartoon creations’ spiritual leader Murdoc as he escapes the mainland in a car chase with his bandmates and ends up on ‘Plastic Beach’, where the new album of the same name – out March 8 – is set.

“Someone was chasing me through the desert! Luckily I had my camera crew following me and they captured it all on film, so I’ve cut it up and stuck it back together for my ‘Stylo’ video,” declared Murdoc. “That’ll learn me not to leave the safe, toxic, isolated haven of ‘Plastic Beach’.”

Meanwhile, Gorillaz‘ human friend Damon Albarn revealed at yesterday’s Shockwaves NME Awards that the band will be playing big UK gigs this year.
