The show is in addition to the previously announced shows at the London Astoria.

Hollywood superstars, romantic reunions after years of estrangement and the hottest new British talent around are all on the menu in the run-up to the ShockWaves NME Awards in a central London location on February 17.

Throughout the month, London Astoria will play host to the annual carnival of essential new music. Sunday February 13 sees Soulwax return stronger than ever with a new drummer and a flurry of new songs.

Singer Preston told NME.COM: “The songs are just more mature and more soulful. The first album was pretty much about the fact that I’d had shit jobs for two years, but I’m out of that now. There’s a lot of stuff about our fans and the Ordinary Army and making sure everyone’s on the same wavelength. We want to make sure everyone understands the outline of what we’re about, and our ethics.”

The following day sees LCD Soundsystem head up a Valentine’s Day special alongside fellow electronic pioneers Hope Of The States, UK mixmen The Go! Team, plus the first ever UK show from Hollywood actress Juliette Lewis’ punk rock side project The Licks.

Then on Tuesday 15, Bright Eyes head up a bill that includes Glasgow’s Sons and Daughters, emo-tech upstarts The Bravery and Hope Of The States prodigy Willy Mason.

“It’s amazing really,” [a][/a] singer Sam Herlihy told NME.COM. “We were first one last year and that was where things really started for us – people knowing about us and playing a big venue. We did our own show there a few weeks ago and to have done that and go back and do it again is great because that’s where I used to go and see bands all the time.”

But sure to be the most eagerly awaited will be the biggest show to date from Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler’s new band The Tears. They’ll be joined by The Magic Numbers, The Dead 60s and nu-grungers Nine Black Alps.

Speaking recently, Brett told NME: “There’s a lot of people out there who were worried about us getting back together and tarnishing what we’ve done before. But the first thing we said when we got back together was that we won’t release a note of music unless the album’s spectacular.”
