Front man heads to clinic for substance abuse treatment

A statement published on Green Day’s website read: “Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologise to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas.”
The singer launched a foul-mouthed tirade at the end of the band’s gig in Las Vegas gig on September 21. Believing that the band only had one minute of their slot remaining, Armstrong yelled: “Oh fuck this shit. I’m gonna play a fucking new song. Fuck this shit. Give me a fucking break. One minute left. You’re gonna give me one fucking minute?”
He went on to say: “Let me tell you something, I’ve been around since 19-fucking-8. And you’re gonna give me one fucking minute? You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me! You’re fucking kidding me. What the fuck! I’m not fucking Justin Bieber, you motherfuckers.”
Armstrong concluded his outburst by smashing his guitar on the stage and aiming a parting shot at the audience, stating: “One minute. God fucking love you all. We’ll be back.”
The band’s representative added that the group have also postponed upcoming promotional appearances that were scheduled in support of their new album ‘iUno!’, released on Monday (September 24). The rest of the band’s new album trilogy, ‘¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré!’, will be released in two other stages. The second LP, ‘¡Dos!’ comes out on November 12 and ‘¡Tré!’ on January 14, 2013.
Last month the band announced a huge UK stadium show for next summer. The trio will headline London’s 60,000 capacity Emirates Stadium on June 1, 2013. Tickets for the show will go onsale at the end of this month on September 28.
