Green Day debut 15 new songs at surprise California show

Band shock fans by unveiling a slew of newly written material

Green Day surprised fans by debuting 15 new songs during a last minute show at the Tiki Bar 1700 Placentia in Costa Mesa, California last week.

According to fansite Greendayauthority.com, the band surprised the crowd by playing an entire set of previously unheard material, as well as a cover of Ozzy Osbourne‘s ‘Goodbye To Romance’ and a version of their side project Foxboro Hot Tubs‘It’s Fuck Time’. The band then played a selection of their regular hits during their encore.

Among the new songs debuted were set opener ‘Nuclear Family’, ‘Carpe Diem’ and ‘8th Avenue Seranade’ as well as 12 other tracks.

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong had recently told fans that the group had been back in the studio working on new material, but to debut so many new songs would suggest that the band are reasonably far along in the recording process.

The band last released a studio album in 2009 with ’21st Century Breakdown’ and put out a live album titled ‘Awesome As Fuck’ earlier this year.
