Green Day frontman's appearance was recorded before his current stint in rehab
Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong will appear on tonight’s episode of US TV talent contest The Voice (October 8) – watch a clip of him below.
The episode, which was recorded before Armstrong entered rehab, will feature the singer as a mentor on Christina Aguilera’s team to help her acts progress in the competition.
“I think we’re a good pairing, and it’s been great,” he says of Aguilera in the clip before going on to talk about the success of the band’s new single ‘Oh Love’, adding: “It never gets old. When you hear yourself on the radio, it never gets old, for me it’s really exciting.”
Armstrong checked himself into a clinic for substance abuse treatment last month (September 23), two days after an onstage meltdown during the band’s performance at iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.
Green Day released their new album ‘iUno!’, last month (September 24). The rest of the new album trilogy, ‘¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré!’, will be released in two other stages – with the second LP, ‘¡Dos!’ coming out on November 12 and ‘¡Tré!’ on January 14, 2013.
Last month the band announced a huge UK stadium show for next summer. The trio will headline London’s 60,000 capacity Emirates Stadium on June 1, 2013.
