The Afghan Whigs singer's release will go under the name The Twilight Singers...

Afghan Whigs frontman Greg Dulli and the Twilight Singers is set to release his long-awaited solo album ‘TWILIGHT AS PLAYED BY THE TWILIGHT SINGERS’ on October 2 through Columbia.

The record, which will be released under Dulli’s side project’s name The Twilight Singers, was, he explained, his attempt to have a “record-as-aphrodisiac vibe like ‘Chet Baker Sings’, Roxy Music’s ‘Avalon’ or Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get It On’“.

He added: “It’s like you put on any of those records and… well, you know what’s going to happen next. I wanted this record to up there in that pantheon.”

‘Twilight As Played By The Twilight Singers’ was recorded in two main bursts over the last three years, firstly for a time in New Orleans, then much more recently in Hull.

Dulli lived and worked in the English town for five weeks in order to complete tracks for the album. Many of those written in that time came out of collaborations with dance duo and Hull natives Fila Brazilia. In the past the pair have remixed Radiohead, The Orb and Busta Rhymes.

The full tracklisting for ‘Twilight as Played By The Twilight Singers’ is as follows: ‘The Twilight Kid’ ‘That’s Just How That Bird Sings’ ‘Clyde’;‘Kid Only’ ‘Love’ ‘Annie Mae’ ‘Verti-Marte’ ‘Last Temptation’ ‘Railroad Lullaby’ ‘East 17’‘Into The Street’ ‘Twilight’
