GROOVE ARMADA SET SAIL AGAIN

The follow-up to 'Vertigo' will be a "challenging listen"...

Groove Armada have revealed they want the follow-up to their debut album ‘VERTIGO’ to be a “challenging listen”.

Speaking to US website, [url=]www.sonicnet.com, Armada programmer Tom Findlay said that the duo’s new album will be “heavier and darker” than ‘Vertigo’. He continued: “We’ll still be using melodies and harmonies, but we want something that’s going to be more of a mind fuck than ‘Vertigo’. We talked through the ideas of the tracks…and just picked up instruments. It will work as a nice starting point.

“We’re going to try to push the production side of it, make sure that’s brilliant. We’re going to get anal about things like what kind of microphones we use and what kinds of compression we use. We just spent more money than we’ve ever spent on a mixing deck!”

The band plan to finish the record by the end of the year, before taking it off to a “different environment” to assess the quality of the album.

As previously revealed on nme.com, the as-yet-untitled new record will also feature a collaboration with rapper Jeru The Damaja, who also guested on ‘Vertigo’.

The album is expected to be released by February or March of next year, with a possible EP before that.
