Gwen Stefani stopped one of her concerts this week (July 27) to invite a young fan who had been bullied onstage.
Whilst performing in West Palm Beach, Florida, the No Doubt singer was handed a letter from a woman in the front row.
Stefani read it out loud, reacting to it live on stage. “My son was bullied from first to fifth grade,” she read out, adding a horrified “What?!” before continuing “He would come home every day upset, but he’d go to his room, listen to your music, and smile.”
The singer demanded the fan “get up here right now” before finishing the note, as MTV reports. She hugged the boy and lifted his arms in the air before talking to him off the microphone.
After the performance, Stefani posted a video to Instagram, captioning it: “About 3 years ago when things were hard in my life I prayed to God everyday that I could get a chance to use my gift that God gave me and make a difference in some way in this world – last night this little guy was the answer to my prayers #zerotoleranceforbullies #onelove #thisiswhatthetruthfeelslike”.
She also shared a selfie of the fan and his family backstage, along with the hashtag “#cuteness”.
