The pair have both joined the Stateside version of the show as coaches

Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams have previewed their roles as coaches in the upcoming US series of The Voice in a promo clip which you can watch above.

It will be the two musicians’ first season as coaches on the show, with Pharrell Williams replacing Cee Lo Green and Stefani taking over from Christina Aguilera in the programme.

They join Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and Blake Shelton in the talent show, which returns to US screens on September 22. The show recently filmed its ‘blind’ auditions in Los Angeles.

Speaking previously about joining the show alongside Stefani, Williams commented: “It’s magical, it’s serendipitous. We’ve always had a special connection, and it was always through music that we recognized each others admiration and the depths [that] there was such potential… You’ll see what Gwen and I do. We’re gonna take a slightly different approach. All we’re gonna do is hold up the mirror and show people how rad they are already.”

Meanwhile, BBC executives have confirmed that the UK version of The Voice will return for a minimum of two more seasons.
