Gwen Stefani donates $1 million to Japan earthquake and tsunami relief effort

Singer says she 'wants to do anything she can to help'

Gwen Stefani has donated $1 million (£620,000) to the relief effort in Japan.

The singer has given the money to Save The Children‘s Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children In Emergency Fund and has also designed a new t-shirt, the profits from sales of which will also go to the charity.

According to Billboard, the No Doubt singer said: “I’ve been inspired by Japan for many years and have a true love, appreciation and respect for the Japanese people. The disaster in Japan is beyond heartbreaking and I want to do anything I can to help.”
