Wu Tang Clan’s GZA announces UK tour – ticket details

The MC will play five UK shows in January next year

Founding member of the Wu Tang Clan, GZA, has announced a January 2012 UK tour.

The MC starts the five date tour on January 17 at O2 Academy Sheffield, then visiting Oxford, Liverpool and Bournemouth before finishing up at O2 Academy Islington in London on January 31.

GZA gave a guest lecture at Harvard University earlier this month. The hip-hop star spoke to Harvard’s Black Men’s Forum on December 1, to discuss his career and his time in the Wu Tang Clan – pictured above – as well as giving an insight into how he crafts his lyrics.

Rolling Stone reported that he will visit other esteemed US academic institutions such as MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and the Broad Institute in Boston to seek inspiration for his new solo album, which is due for release in 2012.

GZA released his last studio solo album, ‘Pro Tools’, in 2008. He had previously announced that he would release a new LP titled ‘Liquid Swords 2: The Return Of The Shadowboxer’ in 2012, but subsequently revealed that work on the album had been shelved while he worked on another as-yet-untitled project.

GZA plays:

O2 Academy Sheffield 2 (January 17)
O2 Academy Oxford 2 (28)
O2 Academy Liverpool 2 (29)
Bournemouth The Old Firestation (30)
O2 Academy Islington London (31)
