The band reveal they worry about being compared to "one of the greatest bands out there"
Haim say they feel “squeamish” about being compared to artists like Fleetwood Mac and Beyoncé.
Speaking in this month’s Marie Claire, Danielle Haim says she worries when she reads reviews comparing them to big-name artists.
“If I read ‘check out this band; they sound like both Fleetwood Mac and Beyoncé’, I’d be like, ‘What?!'” she said. “I get squeamish when people say that. Fleetwood Mac is one of the greatest bands out there! Let’s start a little smaller, you know?”
Last month, the LA sisters dedicated their NME Award for Best International Band to the high school principal who almost didn’t let them graduate.
Speaking to NME backstage after the ceremony on February 26, Alana Haim thanked the people of the UK for embracing them and explained how spending time with the band almost got in the way of finishing school back home in the US.
“The UK has been so lovely to us, they’ve given us so much love,” she said. “The fact we get to be here and win an award is really crazy and we’re stoked and we love the UK. This is our first proper award that we have got at an awards ceremony. This is the first one, so it’s a big deal for us… We’re going to give it to our high school principal who almost didn’t let me graduate, so he can fuck off!”
Haim released their debut album ‘Days Are Gone’ in September 2013.
