Former HAPPY MONDAYS and BLACK GRAPE freaky dancer BEZ has revealed that he has no interest in SHAUN RYDER’s new band SWR – despite a long relationship between the two.

Speaking exclusively to NME.COM today (May 21), Bez said he wasn’t disappointed in not having been asked to participate in his old pal’s project.

“I don’t wanna go back,” Bez explained. “I’ve done it all before and I want a change. I don’t want to do Happy Mondays and Black Grape again.”

Bez has heard Ryder’s demos and admitted, “There are some good ideas”, but he’s busy writing with his new band, Baldies Out Of Town, “who are doing something a bit different”. He’s already recorded with producer Howie B, and given away 500 copies of a demo single. However, the band is just a hobby for Bez. “We’re not serious and we’re not signed. We just want to do it for fun.”

Bez is concentrating on his new career as a DJ. Following a series of DJ spots at clubs and universities around Britain, he has landed a residency at a club in Ibiza for one week a month this summer.

Meanwhile, Bez is performing as Mystic Bez on a promotional tour for After Shock. Bez confessed that he’s not a real psychic, but “I’ve been known to have a good guess at the future.” He joins ‘The Royle Family’ star Ralf Little, dance act The Cuban Brothers and various comedians around Britain.

The tour calls at:

Leeds HiFi Club (May 23)

London Cobden Club (June 6)
