TOP STARS GET A LITTLE LOVE

The star sounds off in her own inimitable style about today's crop of stars - and find out which one she's dated...

COURTNEY LOVE made a surprise appearance at the first ROCKRGRL Music Conference in SEATTLE at the weekend (November 4) and sounded off on everything from EMINEM to MARILYN MANSON and BRITNEY SPEARS.

Appearing as an eleventh hour special guest, the Hole frontwoman held court during a 90 minute Q & A session at the city’s Renaissance Madison Hotel, an event that signed off the three-day conference.

During the debate, Love revealed to a surprised crowd that she had been on three dates with Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, but insisted that at no time did she make him take off his trademark baseball cap.

She added: “The only thing that makes Fred feel guilty is he wants to be part of the Lollapalooza generation. They romanticise this. He’ll call me up and say, ‘I want to respect women. How do I do that?’ I said, ‘Fred, for starters, holding a party at the Playboy Mansion? Not a good idea.'”

Love went on to describe Eminem as being “the first totally post-modern artist, saying “in that without context he’s nothing – without that endorsement from Dre he’s nothing” and also took a sly dig at Marilyn Manson, claiming that when asked by Jimmy Iovine, the head of Interscope Records why she thought Manson didn’t sell many records, she said “Because it’s not 1975, Jimmy.”

Carrying on her overview of current musical stars, Love continued she felt Britney Spears was “like a Barbie” but also thought that Max Martin, the man behind many of the teen sensation’s hits including ‘…Baby One More Time’ was a genius.

Hole fans though may have some wait for new material. Love revealed that not only was she having difficulties finding a full-time replacement for departed bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur, but business sides of her career were preventing her from writing new material.

“I’ve only written about five songs in a year because of the legal battles I’m going through now. It takes all your time and energy,” she said.
