Alexis Taylor hopes to release their next album in the first half of 2012

Hot Chip‘s Alexis Taylor has revealed that Buddhist chanting monks are set to feature on the band’s new album.

Speaking to NME, the singer confirmed that the electro band had hit the studio to work on the LP, the follow-up to 2010’s ‘One Life Stand’.

He said:

We’re really happy with how it’s going. We’re trying to build up a good batch of songs before we get too excited about finishing the album. We want to keep going and try out as many different things as possible, so we’ve got the best album we can make.

The frontman added that the group are keen to experiment on the album, which is why they drafted in the monks to add vocals. “There’s a track that has a kind of strange dream-like quality to it, and that doesn’t feature any sequenced elements – it’s totally played live. It doesn’t really sound like any other Hot Chip song”, he said.

While the album does not have a title yet, there will be two tracks, likely to appear on the final cut, called ‘Ends Of The Earth’ and ‘Look At Where We Are’. The band are planning to release it in the first half of 2012.

Hot Chip have no new tour dates confirmed, but the band are hoping to play some live shows by next year’s summer festival period.
