TI wants Iggy Azalea to forget about social media beefs and focus on her music

"It's just like asking Tom Brady if he should be commenting on 'deflategate'"

Rapper TI wants his protégé Iggy Azalea to stop getting distracted by social media beefs and concentrate on her music.

Azalea – who was once signed to TI’s Grand Hustle label – has been involved with a number of online back-and-forths in the past year, bickering with Azalea Banks, Snoop Dogg, and, most recently, shoe mogul Steve Madden.

“I think she should focus on what got her here, and that’s her music, her performing and continue to just present her talents to the world,” TI told TMZ.

“It’s just like asking Tom Brady if he should be commenting on ‘deflategate’ and he should be worried about the game on Sunday,” he added, referring to the recent controversy surrounding American Football team the New England Patriots ahead of tomorrow’s (February 1) Super Bowl.

Earlier this month, Azalea responded to the criticism she has received for her role in hip-hop, claiming that it was “100,000 per cent to do with the fact I have a vagina”.

In December of last year, Azealia Banks accused the Australian of picking and choosing from black culture but ignoring larger issues, such as protests sparked by the deaths of African-Americans Eric Garner and Michael Brown at the hands of police.

Speaking about her background, Azalea said: “Well, I never thought it was strange. If you go back to The Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley and Eminem – they’ve all basically done black music. I felt this wasn’t that far from what we’ve seen in music history over and over again.”

Asked if she thought criticisms of her were rooted in misogyny, she replied: “Well, they don’t say that stuff about Macklemore. So, yes, I think it has 100,000 percent to do with the fact that I have a vagina.”
