Iggy Pop teams up with Japanese guitarist Tomoyasu Hotei on ‘How The Cookie Crumbles’ – listen

Hotei is best known as the man behind 'Kill Bill' theme 'Battle Without Honor Or Humanity'

Iggy Pop appears on ‘How The Cookie Crumbles’, the new single from Japanese guitarist Tomoyasu Hotei.

The single will be released via Spinefarm Records on June 15 and is taken from Hotei’s new album, due for release later this year. Hotei is best known for his song ‘Battle Without Honor Or Humanity’, the theme from Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill.

Hotei plays an intimate gig at The Lexington in London on July 7. Meanwhile, Iggy Pop will support Foo Fighters at their two Wembley Stadium gigs later this month. He appears on the support bill alongside Royal Blood.

Iggy Pop’s collaboration with Hotei is just one of a number he is currently working on, having recently revealed he is also working with an unnamed British band.

Speaking earlier this year Pop added that he is planning to tour with the band before releasing new music. He said: “I’m going to do some songs of my own and some very early Stooges that I haven’t done for a long time. That’s one thing, and then working on new music is another thing. I’m up to something, that’s all I can say.”

Pop hasn’t made an album since his band The Stooges released fifth album ‘Ready To Die’ in 2013. Drummer Scott Asheton died of a heart attack in 2014, aged 64. His brother, guitarist Ron Asheton, died in 2009. Pop’s last solo album was ‘Apres’ in 2012.
