Manchester veterans are also releasing a new album in September

Inspiral Carpets are releasing their 1987 demo tape, ‘Dung 4’, for Record Store Day on April 19.

The 11-song demo tape was originally given a limited cassette-only release in 1989 to coincide with the release of the Manchester band’s single ‘Joe’, but has been unavailable since. The release adds a four-song 7” of another 1987 demo, ‘Cow’.

As well as the Record Store Day vinyl pressing, ‘Dung 4’ gets a CD/download release on April 28.

Since reforming in 2011, the band have released two singles, ‘You’re So Good For Me’ and ‘Fix Your Smile’, on Tim Burgess’ record label O Genesis. A new album, their first since 1994’s ‘Devil Hopping’ is due for release in September on Cherry Red Records. Keyboardist Clint Boon said: “It’s happy days in Inspirals world.”

The five-piece play at Isle Of Wight, Frome and T In The Park festivals this summer. Before forming Oasis, Noel Gallagher was a roadie for the band in the late 1980s.
