INTERPOL’S TOUR ‘ANTICS’

And the New Yorkers reveal more about their forthcoming album...

Interpol have announced the dates for a full US tour, due to kick off in BOSTON on October 11.

The group will be supported by Secret Machines and will wrap with two nights at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom (November 11-12).

Singer Paul Banks has also revealed further details about their forthcoming second album ’Antics’, due for release on September 27.

Describing the record, he said: “I suppose it’s more upbeat. . . [But] I see it like this: The four of us wrote another record and we’re a little better at writing songs now. In that sense, I think it’s a better album, but it’s just a different album, as well.

“I gravitate towards the same themes, like romance and separation, and anxiety and relationships,” Banks told MTV News about the content of the record. “Those are the most potent subjects for me, [the emotions] that stimulate my imagination the most.”

Despite the simple title of ’Antics’, Banks explained that there was more than meets the eye with the name, saying: “Someone will understand when they’ve lived with this record for a year. And then, all of the sudden, people will get it. They’ll get that it’s not just some flippant, silly title.”

Interpol will release ’Slow Hands’ as the first single from ’Antics’ on September 13.
