INTERPOL SET TO SHINE AGAIN IN 2004

The band expect to release a follow-up to 'Turn On The Bright Lights' next year...

Interpol

are to enter the studio to record their second album early in the new year.

The band say they have seven new songs written already for the follow-up to 2002’s ‘Turn On The Bright Lights’, and expect to release the new record later next year.

Two of the new songs, ‘Length of Love’ and ‘NARC’, have been featuring in the band’s live set for some time. Bassist Carlos Dengler told Rolling Stone: “They’ve been in existence for close to a year now. But they’ve needed fine tuning, and it’s taken us so long to do that because we’ve been on the road, and we don’t get a chance to write on the road.”

The star added that the band will get together after their North American tour, due to start tomorrow in Montreal (September 16), to work on new songs. “We got to where we are by doing our own thing and having our own sound,” Dengler commented. “We’re going to approach the second album with the same sort of natural instinct.”

The band release another single from ‘Turn On The Bright Lights’ today (September 15) in the UK. It’s a remix of ‘Obstacle 1’ by acclaimed dance producer Arthur Baker, which Dengler described as “a little bit more dancey”.
