Liars and Fever Ray's Karin Andersson also throw in songs for Blonde Redhead curated project
The compilation – ‘We Are The Works In Progress’ – has been curated by frontwoman Kazu Makino to help raise money for Japan’s recovery following the tsunami earlier this year.
Proceeds for the LP, which is slated for release in the US on January 10, 2012, will benefit the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund and Architecture For Humanity charities, reports Pitchfork. A release date for the UK is yet to be set.
The project is close to Makino’s heart because she was also born in Kyoto, Japan.
She said in a statement:
Unfinished things often carry more energy, the possibility of it eventually becoming something great is infinite without having to be quite yet.
Makino added: “I’ve noticed that each song relates to one another. Like my friend Scott Mou said, ‘It sounds like each song is passing a baton to the next one.’ I feel the same way.”
