Jack White shares picture of purple sprained ankle, refuses to postpone live show

Picture was posted via Third Man Records' Instagram account

Jack White has refused to postpone a live gig despite suffering what appeared to be a seriously sprained ankle.

A photograph of the former White Stripe frontman’s severely swollen ankle was posted via the Third Man Records Instagram account yesterday (August 23). White suffered the injury while on stage the previous night at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, San Francisco. Despite the sprain, Third Man asserted that White would take to the stage for the second of two scheduled gigs at the venue.

“The camp is pressuring Jack to postpone the rest of the tour but Jack wants the show to go on tonight. See you tonight at the Bill Graham Civic,” wrote White’s label in a post accompanying the photograph.

The Tennessean reports that White did indeed take to the stage last night. There has been no update on the status of the rest of the tour.

Earlier this month it was announced that White’s latest LP ‘Lazaretto’ had become the biggest-selling vinyl album for 20 years. The album was released in June and has gone on to sell over 60,000 vinyl copies, making it the biggest-selling vinyl album since Pearl Jam’s ‘Vitalogy’, which was released in 1994.
