Jack White brings his mum on stage during homecoming show in Detroit

Mum's the word...

Jack White has shared photos of the moment that he brought his mum onstage during a homecoming show in Detroit last night.

The former White Stripes star kicked off his ‘Boarding House Reach’ tour with two shows in the Motor City, and marked the occasion by bringing mother Theresa Gillis on stage.

In a series of photos posted to White’s Instagram, Gillis is seen joining the guitarist to provide backing vocals on ‘Hotel Yorba’ as well as dancing with him.

The latest US performance from White comes after he previously appeared as the musical guest on last week’s Saturday Night Live.

The musician, who released his latest solo album ‘Boarding House Reach‘ last month, performed the songs ‘Over And Over And Over’ and ‘Connected By Love’ on the show. He also played the latter using a guitar designed by St. Vincent‘s Annie Clark.
He also appeared in an unaired sketch that saw host  John Mulaney finding out his new wife (Cecily Strong) is having an affair with his best man (Luke Null). As the pair sang of their forbidden love and revealed the musician was also involved in the tryst, White accompanied them on guitar.
