The freebie gigs are in support of Bono's anti-poverty initiative Agit8
The short freebie sets are in support of Agit8, an “urgent call to action against extreme poverty” launched by Bono‘s One Campaign in advance of the G8 Summit in Belfast, Northern Ireland next week. Biffy Clyro performed live at the gallery yesterday (June 13) for Agit8, treating the crowd to a cover of Rage Against The Machine’s ‘Killing In The Name’ and two of their own songs.
Bugg will come onstage at 4pm and has a 20-minute time slot, while Tempah’s set is scheduled between 7.30pm and 8pm. Other performances today will come from an eclectic range of artists including Tom Jones, The View, Jessie J and Paolo Nutini.
Other artists who’ve covered classic protest songs for Agit8 include will.i.am, Ed Sheeran, Sting, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Kid Rock. More information and videos of all the songs can be found at One.org/protestsongs.
