Support act Findlay reveals how she took a punch aimed for Bugg
Jake Bugg had a run-in with a fan in Newcastle, and it ended up with his support act getting punched in the face, it has been revealed.
Solo artist Findlay, who supported Bugg on his recent UK tour dates, revealed to The Sun how one late-night drinking session ended up with an Irish girl turning violent and attempting to hit Bugg. Unfortunately for Findlay, she got in the way of the punch: “We were having a late one up in Newcastle. The mini-bar was getting hammered and it went on until 5am,” she told the paper. “An Irish girl was totally out of control. She’d had her arse out and everything. It kicked off and I got in the middle of it and took a punch for Jake. He owes me.”
Jake Bugg released his self-titled debut album earlier this year, with the album going straight to Number One ahead of Leona Lewis and Mumford & Sons. Speaking to NME about his chart success at the time, Bugg said: “I guess it proves my point – people still want to hear guitar music. It’s my job to keep that X Factor shit off the top of the charts.”
Earlier this year, Bugg also told NME that he wants to support the Arctic Monkeys on tour. See the video below. “I’d like to support the Arctic Monkeys, that would be cool,” he said. “But I’ve already supported The Stone Roses and Noel Gallagher, which are two of the biggest ones for me. Arctic Monkeys would be wicked, and I’m just looking forward to doing my own shows really.”
