The black and white promo was shot in the English countryside by director Nabil

James Blake and Chance The Rapper have unveiled the video for their recent reversioning of Blake’s track, ‘Life Round Here’.

Speaking to Noisey, Nabil commented: “I love juxtapositions, so I thought I’d bring an old school lowrider to the countryside in England, and bring the two together in a way that makes people question things.”

Chance The Rapper said that he and James Blake have recorded more material together, in addition to the ‘Life Round Here’ remix. The pair met at SXSW in Austin, Texas earlier this year. The two kept in touch and since then have worked on a few tracks, including some original material. Speaking to XXL, Chance said he was “really excited” about the new songs he’s made with Blake. Speaking about ‘Life Round Here’, he said: “I love his records, so to do another version of one of his songs that I felt was already completed was… you know… you don’t wanna fuck somebody’s shit up. I jumped on it and people seem to like it a lot. But I’m really excited for our other shit too.”

Speaking to Radio 1‘s Zane Lowe about how their collaboration came about, James Blake recently said: “I really like his mixtape [Acid Rap] and saw him at South by Southwest, I just thought his voice would work really well. I never felt the track was finished, even when it went on the album, I always thought there was space for something else.”

James Blake is nominated for this year’s Mercury Prize alongside Arctic Monkeys, David Bowie and Laura Marling. He recently cancelled a number of US tour dates so he can attend the prizegiving ceremony at London’s Roundhouse on October 30.
