The songwriter says he sought advice from the Blur frontman for his third album
“Damon Albarn told me to write from the heart,” said Jamie in a new interview with The Observer. “To not give a fuck what anyone else thinks. He said that was the only way I was gonna get a record that was…,” ‘That was?’ asked the journalist. “I think he might have said ‘As good as mine’.”
In the piece, Jamie T reveals that despite his four-year absence from the music industry, he did in fact play a number of low-key gigs at acoustic nights in his native Wimbledon, testing out third album material, and appearing under the the name Jamie. He added that he has written 180 songs since the release of his second album, ‘Kings & Queens’, in 2009. “I write more songs than anyone I know. I’ve never stopped writing…” he said.
‘Carry On The Grudge’ is Jamie T’s long-awaited third album, set for release on September 29. Scroll down for the 12-song tracklisting, which also features ‘Don’t You Find’.
Jamie T will celebrate the release ‘Carry On The Grudge’ with a tiny gig at McClusky’s in Kingston, London on October 2, ahead of 13 dates this autumn, starting in Bristol on October 30. The tour will also visit Southampton, Norwich, Newcastle, Nottingham, Leeds, Glasgow and Birmingham.
