Jarvis Cocker is to host the Shockwaves NME Awards 2010.

The former Pulp singer will take control of proceedings at the O2 Brixton Academy in London on February 24, where it was announced today (February 9) that Paul Weller will receive the Godlike Genius Award.

“I’m quite excited about it,” Cocker declared. “And, you know, I spoke to various people from the magazine and explained certain things about myself and it didn’t put them off, so they know what they’re in for.”

Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Kasabian, Florence And The Machine and The Maccabees are among the acts up for awards this year.
