Jarvis Cocker to give yoga and Pilates classes

Former Pulp man to take over Galerie Chappe in Paris

Jarvis Cocker is set to perform a residency at the Galerie Chappe in Paris, where he and his band will provide a soundtrack for yoga and Pilates classes, plus invite fans to play along with them.

The former Pulp singer will play in the gallery every afternoon from today (May 5), where members of the public can drop in to join in the musical activities (see below for a full schedule).

As well as soundtracking yoga and pilates classes, activities will include a relaxation session, musical improvisation and various guest performances.

Jarvis Cocker‘s Galerie Chappe schedule (all times Paris local time) will be as follows:

May 5
12pm-2pm: Band rehearsal
2-3pm: Bring an instrument – fans are invited to play with the band – amplification will be provided.
3-4pm: Yoga class – with an instructor while the band provides musical accompaniment. Attendees must bring their own mats.
4-5pm: Improvisations on a theme – with the band improvising music based on written suggestions and themes from fans.
5-6pm Guest performance – an as-yet unannounced guest will join the band to play live with them.

May 6
12-2pm: Band rehearsal.
2-4pm: Children’s day – music-based children’s activities supervised by the band. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult.
4-5pm: Relaxation – the band will provide musical accompaniment to a relaxation class, with fans asked to bring mats.
5-6pm Guest performance.

May 7
12-2pm: Band rehearsal.
2-3pm: Improvisations on a theme (see May 5).
3-4pm: Pilates class – the band will provide musical accompaniment to a class with an instructor, with fans asked to bring mats.
4-5pm: Bring an instrument (see May 5).
5-6pm: Guest performance.

May 8
12-2pm: Band rehearsal.
2-3pm: Improvisations on a theme (see May 5).
3-4pm: Aerobics – the band will provide musical accompaniment to an aerobics class, with fans asked to bring mats.
4-5pm: Bring an instrument (see May 5).
5-6pm: Guest performance.

May 9
12-2pm: Band rehearsal.
2-3pm: Bring an instrument (see May 5).
3-4pm: Dancing – the band will play music designed to dance to, and ask fans to dress in accordance.
6-7pm: Outdoor performance.

May 10
12-2pm: Band rehearsal.
2-3pm: Quiet Hour –an hour of the softest music the band can play.
5-6pm: Guest performance.
4-6pm: Review of the week – with the band playing music written over the course of the past six days.
